While playing around with their new PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, BrokenGamezHDR posted a short video on Twitter showing themselves using the accessory to play the Nintendo Switch. The video shows their hand using the DualSense to navigate the menus of the Switch, jumping into a game of Mario Kart 8, and then back out again. Naturally, the discovery left many people confused as to why this could happen.

It’s been previously confirmed that the controller won’t work natively on the PlayStation 4 console, so players will want to keep their DualShock 4 controllers handy in case they want to revisit any games there. While some have confirmed it’ll work with PS4 Remote Play, what’s even more odd is that the controller doesn’t natively work on the PlayStation 3. Other confirmed platforms include the iPhone, Android, Microsoft’s Project xCloud, and the PC as well. It’s worth noting that on many of these platforms, the DualSense acts more as a generic controller, so fans shouldn’t expect to see any controller features working elsewhere.
With many fans now looking ahead to the future of the PlayStation brand, Sony reiterated that it doesn’t intend to abandon those who don’t opt to upgrade right out of the gate. In fact, Sony’s own PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that in the last six months, the PS4 community has continued to grow. As such, the company doesn’t want to abandon them and will continue to support the system and release upcoming games on it through 2022.
The PS5 is set to launch on November 12, 2020.
