As should be immediately apparent from just looking at the new photo, the PS5 doesn’t appear to lie flat naturally. Instead, both consoles appear to use a stand of some sort in order to lie flat. Photos of this stand, separate from the PS5, have not been made available. It also isn’t clear if the two versions of the PS5 require different-shaped stands.
PlayStation fans will have to wait for some official details regarding the PS5 and how it can be positioned before knowing with certainty. For example, the horizontal stand likely comes with the PS5 because buyers will expect it, but that isn’t known for sure until Sony says so. It’s still a very funny situation that whether the console can lie flat is an issue at all, just because the PS5 is shaped so oddly.
