A number of Twitter accounts have been set up to monitor PlayStation 5 availability and report when the consoles are restocked in stores and online. Some hopeful buyers have been repeatedly refreshing websites in anticipation of new stock.
Target PS5 restock
Target was out of stock of PS5s at the time of writing, though accessories like the DualSense Wireless Controller were available for purchase. Target may have more PS5s in the near future, however, according to Twitter account YtNextGenGaming. It’s shared updates on PS5s restocks in the past and offered some good news on December 31.
“A lot of target stores have been getting stock. From my sources there should be a drop in the next 2 weeks. Look for them to drop from Sunday’s to Tuesday’s,” the account tweeted.
On January 1, YtNextGenGaming shared a list of stores either confirmed or rumored to be restocking PS5s in the coming week, though it’s not been possible to confirm the reports. Twitter account Target Restock Alerts is also one to watch for updates on the store’s PS5 stock. It advises refreshing Target’s website regularly.
Walmart PS5 restock
Walmart’s website shows that they do not currently have any stock of PS5s, noting for both version of the console “Oops! This item is unavailable or on backorder.” They are, however, still selling PS5 DualSense Wireless Controllers and charging stations.
Best Buy PS5 restock
Both PS5 disc and digital versions were sold out on Best Buy’s website early on January 2. Best Buy offers several different bundles and customers must order online for curbside pickup. PS5s cannot be purchased in store.
eBay PS5 restock
The PlayStation 5 is available on eBay and according to stock tracker NowInStock.net, it appears to be the only place the console can currently be purchased.
However, prices are considerably steeper than main street retailers, with some eBay users asking as much as $1,500 for the console, though the consoles offered range in price.
When will the PS5 restock?
As many as 18 million consoles are expected to be released in 2021, according to Digitimes. This is five times more than the total number released within the first month after sales began. Around 10 million are planned to be released by March this year, an increase from the initial figure of 6 million.
